Business Immigration to British Columbia: Regional Pilot Program at a Glance

This program is recently launched by the province of British Columbia (BC) to attract foreign entrepreneur to invest and establish  new businesses and participate in the economic development priorities of regional communities in BC.    

 

Non-eligible Businesses:

The registrations are only considered for entrepreneurs who intend to establish eligible new businesses in the participating communities from the economic development priorities identified by the participating communities in the province of British Columbia. The following, however, are considered Ineligible Businesses:

 

  • an immigration-linked investment scheme under Provincial Immigration Programs Regulation and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR); 

  • any business with a redemption option in terms of investment per IRPR;

  • any business with a passive investment per IRPR;

  • automated car wash operations;

  • bed and breakfasts, hobby farms and home-based businesses; 

  • businesses selling used goods (excluding businesses that provide value-added services such as repairs, refurbishing or recycling);

  • businesses involved in producing, distributing or selling pornography or sexually explicit products or services, or providing sexually oriented services;

  • coin-operated laundries; 

  • DVD rental stores; 

  • No seasonal business;

  • payday loan, cheque cashing, money changing and cash machine businesses; 

  • pawnbrokers; 

  • real estate development/brokerage, insurance brokerage or business brokerage;

  • scrap metal recycling; 

  • tanning salons; and

  • any other type of business that by association would tend to bring the BC PNP or the Government of British Columbia into disrepute.

Participating Communities with Populations and Priority Investment Sectors
